Growing Conditions

The Spring Mountain Vineyard sits on the eastern side of the Mayacamas at 1500 feet in elevation. The combination of morning sun and cool evenings allows the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. This produces an elegant balanced wine with Spring mountain’s signature dark red fruit and graceful tannins.

For Amici the 2017 wine grape harvest will truly be remembered as a harvest of teamwork and dedication showed on all levels from our team, colleagues, friends and the first responders that saved our homes and livelihood. The quality of the 2017 vintage is ever present and is producing wines of vibrancy, tenacity and character, much like the traits needed by all who helped the wine industry through such a challenging end to the season.

Winemaking

The Amici Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is always a wine of freshness driven by tannins, and the 2017 is no different. Capturing the essence of mountain- grown fruit, the wine is powerful yet graceful, with perfumed aromas of violets, fresh tobacco and blackberry. The savory, dense palate features licorice flavors along with juicy blackberry underlain with spearmint and loam. Strong, chalky mountain tannins that are already beginning to soften showing the age-ability of this wine.
