Originating from coveted blocks within Grand Cru sites such as Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard, our Sunshine Valley Vineyard and Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard, its bloodlines are distinctive and defining.
Winemaking
Beginning with the first rays of spring sunshine and continuing until harvest, these renowned vineyards provide every opportunity for “X” to stand among Napa Valley’s iconic red wines. From the vines, our watchful cellar team takes the reins from mother nature and carefully guides “X” as it evolves into our preeminent offering.
Aging
Once in barrel, the components of “X” begin a nearly three-year journey in French oak. Upon maturity, our winemakers taste hundreds of individual lots and brand only the exceptional few for final consideration with a distinctive chalk “X” on the selected barrels. Akin to the Medal of Honor in our cellar, these are a mere handful of each vintage’s top performers. After an additional three years’ bottle aging, and released only at the winemaker’s discretion, “X” truly represents the terroir, art and science that combine to create a remarkable wine.
