Nose

The 2016 Pinot Grigio has lovely and complex aromas of jasmine, white peach, grapefruit zest, and lemongrass.

Palate

Weighty on the palate, yet crisp and refreshing with flavors of Meyer lemon and passion fruit to go a long with a bright, clean finish.

Growing Conditions

Despite the ongoing statewide drought, Napa Valley received close to average rainfall in 2015-16. More than 12” fell in March 2016, ensuring that the vines had ample water as they emerged from dormancy. The growing season was considerably cooler than in the previous two vintages, allowing us to harvest beautifully ripened grapes at the end of a long growing season.

Winemaking

The fruit for this wine was grown in the Oak Knoll District, just north of the city of Napa, where the temperatures are notably cooler than at our Estate St. Helena Vineyard. The moderate weather helps heighten the rich aromatics of Pinot Grigio, while retaining a bright acidity that provides a clean and refreshing finish.

Food Pairing

This wine will pair beautifully with Lemon Chicken Piccata, grilled halibut, pizza with ham, asparagus & ricotta, seared day boat scallops, and cheeses such as Gruyere, Humboldt Fog, Mt Tam and Robiola due Latti.
